Meet Dr. Porter
Dr. R. S. Porter is a Huntsville native, who moved to Seattle after high school. While living and working in the Seattle area, he personally experienced the benefits of Upper Cervical chiropractic care.
After years of suffering from chronic allergies, headaches, acid reflux, and a developing chronic fatigue, all of Dr. Porter’s symptoms went away after receiving chiropractic care. The benefits were so life-changing that Dr. Porter decided to go back to school and complete his Bachelors of Science, as well as his Doctorate in Chiropractic.
He studied Exercise Science at Seattle Pacific University while obtaining multiple certificates in personal training. Dr. Porter is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) not only as a personal trainer, but also as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and a Sports Performance Specialist. He is also certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the National Council on Strength & Fitness, and Apex Fitness and Nutrition.
Dr. Porter began his chiropractic training at Parker University in Dallas. While at Parker, he was President of an Upper Cervical club, served as a Student Government Association leader, and spent much of his free time on campus as an anatomy lab assistant. Dr. Porter completed his clinical studies at one of the few schools that emphasize Upper Cervical in their curriculum and clinic, graduating with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in Spartanburg, S.C. While completing his 4 years of chiropractic school, Porter continuously attended Upper Cervical seminars and has trained in multiple Upper Cervical techniques.
Dr. Porter is Webster Technique Certified by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.
Dr. Porter’s passion to combine Upper Cervical care and corrective exercise led him to open Functional Chiropractic in Huntsville, AL. His care focus in these areas work well with every patient, but especially those individuals whose occupation has them spending extra time sitting at a desk. He feels that the body functions best when peoples’ spines are healthy and their posture has been corrected.
While living in Seattle, he obtained multiple certifications and worked as a Sommelier (wine expert). Currently, Dr. Porter enjoys trail runs, runs Spartan Races, and hangs out with his family. He married his best friend, Teri, in December of 2015. They have a little boy, Theodore “Teddy” Porter, and little girl, Alexandria “Andria” Porter, and enjoy running Spartan Races together, leading church small groups, traveling, and playing with their dog Chewbacca.
